Michael Oberdries incorporated OBERDRIES CONSULTING LTD in December 2003 to provide a corporate structure for his geospatial consultancy and contracting work, which he began in July 2001.

Oberdries Consulting has provided spatial data consultancy services since 2001, drawing on more than 30 years of experience in the field. Its consulting experience spans a diverse range of industry sectors, including geomarketing, utilities, transport and logistics, local government, land and environmental information systems, asset management, forestry, and GIS in tertiary education and research.

Michael holds an MSc in Environmental Science (Canterbury, 1st Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Surveying (Otago). He is a Registered Professional Surveyor (RPSurv), a Certified GIS Professional (GISP®), an FME Certified Professional, and an FME Flow Certified Professional.

Oberdries Consulting is passionate about solving challenges in the spatial domain and has broad conceptual and applied knowledge of geographic information science, combined with a strong understanding of the spatial information marketplace and supporting infrastructure in New Zealand.

Michael has extensive experience with Safe Software’s FME Form and FME Flow platforms, open-source geospatial technologies, and Esri geodatabase design, implementation and integration. He also brings substantial geospatial consultancy experience and strong technical knowledge of geodesy and geographic information science.
